about
This is my first single release. This song was written in 2012 and has since been played in front of hundreds of people, where it quickly became a fan-favorite. "Bystander Blues" has been performed alongside me by several musicians - close friends of mine - and has seen many different iterations.
What you find here is the final iteration of this song. I hope you enjoy it and appreciate it for what it is.
It was a late September evening,
Before I jetted off to space
I guess I didn't think it'd kill you
I thought I'd let you run the place
So get back lady
Move on swiftly, come on home
Where your bed is warm
Be calm, nothing is wrong
Three months later, you are dreadful
You broke your chair, you wrecked your nest
I'd like to say we idly stood by
But I gave one small glance at best
So get back lady
Move on swiftly, come on home
Where your bed is warm
Be calm, nothing is wrong
I guess I'd choose
To sit back watching as you take on
All the big, bad news
Bystander blues
I can't help thinking
That I should have taken
Some of that blues for you
Remember when we'd talk 'til morning,
Or did I make that up myself?
It's tough to play up all the good times
You see the light, well, I need help
So get back lady
Move on swiftly, come on home
Where your bed is warm
Be calm, nothing is wrong
I guess I'd choose
To sit back laughing as you're dealt out
All the hands you lose
Bystander blues
I can't stop thinking that I should have
Put out both my hands for you
Now we're only public people,
Some pleasantries a laugh or two
But in those public times you're happy
I hope you are in private, too
So get back lady
Move on swiftly, come on home
Where your dinner's warm
Be calm, nothing is wrong
I guess I'd choose
To sit back watching as you take on
All the big, bad news
Bystander blues
I can't stop thinking
That I should have taken
Some of that blues for you
